Mineral resources are essential for the production of human beings. However, with the rapid development of social and economic activitiesthe increasing demand for mineral resources, such as shallow stratum and large scale easy to survey the majority of which have been found. Therefore, it is necessary to use a kind of geophysical exploration method, which has very good survey effect of hard to survey ore body such as deep and small scale, to prospect the undiscovered mineral resources.Transient electromagnetic method, also known as time domain electromagnetic method, referred to as TEM. Because the TEM observation is pure anomaly field (a field during intermittent), so the abnormal information received by the fewer interference, response of underground geological conditions are better. And the method of survey depth is deep, for the resolution of small concealed ore is higher.In the paper I have interpreted the transient electromagnetic method realization process and theoretical basis. And I have analysed the theoretical basis of metal mine because of the low resistance characteristics, which can be surveyed by TEM, and the influence of different electromagnetic properties of ore bodies on the survey results. Subsequently using the Emit Maxwell software to simulate the survey result of low resistivity body when in different depth, different angles, different electromagnetic properties. And analysing the simulation data of different parameters, the result showing characteristics of the data obtained using the TEM method survey the low resistivity body.In the following paper is mainly based on the actual site of the metal ore exploration, discussing the methods of work in the field, such as the selection of equipment and the line layout, and terrain correction according to the collected data. In Jinping, Yunnan the multi-metal mine area actual survey, the first in the vicinity of known mined verified survey. The results show that this method is very effective. Then according to preliminary geological survey data and geophysical data and geochemical data, using transient electromagnetic method in anomaly delineated when census stages of fine prospect. On this basis, then circled a smaller range of low resistivity anomaly, and in some areas drilling verification.The results also show that transient electromagnetic method in actual survey information obtained has high reliability. This paper describes the process and effect of transient electromagnetic method combined with the application of comprehensive geophysical prospecting in a wide range of prospecting activities.
