The decision-making is the most common behavior in the human’s daily life. We are faced with different decision-making problems every day. Moreover, a lot of information is not accurate, uncertain and vague in our life. Therefore, the uncertainty decision-making problem is that we must face in our life. Although the probability theory, rough set theory and fuzzy set theory can deal with these problems, they all have their own defects. In order to make up for their defects and solve the uncertain decision-making problems, molodtsov describes things from parameters and proposes the importance of soft set. Compared with the probability theory, rough set and fuzzy soft set theory, soft set theory just starts and is still in the embryonic period. Soft set theory is worthy of investigation because of its development potential. Therefore,many scholars at home and abroad are attracted by soft set. In this paper, we mainly study methods of the parameter reduction and multi-person decision-making based on soft set theory. The specific research work is shown in the following aspects:1.In order to solve the problems of large calculation, low reduction efficiency and unreasonable result in the soft set theory, a new parameter reduction method of soft set based on the importance degrees of parameters is proposed. According to the discernibility matrix, the importance degree of each parameter is obtained. Based on it,the parameter reduction is carried out. Finally, comparing with other reduction methods in the specific example, this new parameter reduction method of soft set based on the importance degrees of parameters is not only more reasonable and more efficient, but also can make the reduction result more accurate.2. In order to solve the unreasonable problems that decision-making results are too many in multi-person decision-making methods, a multi-person decision-making method based on weighted fuzzy soft set is proposed. A method of determining parameter weight is given. Based on it, weighted-values of objects are obtained and are sorted. Hence, the best decision object is obtained. Finally, comparing with other multi-person decision-making methods in the specific example, this new multi-person decision-making method based on weighted fuzzy soft set is more reasonable and effective.
