The black soldier fly is a kind of important worldwide spread insect and its larvae are scavengers and thrive on many kinds of decaying organic matter including carrion, manure, plant refuse and the waste products of beehives. On the one hand, using the black soldier fly to digest kitchenware residues, it could obtains a lot of larvae containing high protein and fat that can be used as feed additives; on the other hand, for the purpose of environmental protection, the digestion process can effectively reduce the odor and moisture content of kitchenware residues. The kitchenware residues can also be used as a biological organic fertilizer after conversion process.Based on successful experience of swine manure conversion by the black soldier fly larvae, the process of the kitchenware residues conversion by the black soldier fly larvae was optimized to obtain a high nutrition content of the insects. The result showed that the optimal inoculation amount of larvae was 1500 larvae/kg in which group larvae weight increase 23.99 g (200 larvae). The conversion rate is 32.06%. The residual material utilization rate is 63.01% and the residual material moisture content is 53.47%. The 1500 larvae/kg group is better than other groups. The larvae inoculation ages were also optimized. The sixth day, the eighth day, the tenth day and the twelfth day of larvae were chosed for the kitchenware residues conversion. The result showed that the group of the sixth day was the best. The conversion period of the sixth day group was 11 d and obviously shorter than other group. We also replace the artificial feed partly using the kitchenware residues to feed the black soldier fly larvae. The experiment showed that it got a better result when the ratio of kitchenware residues to the artificial feed was 50%. The larvae weight was 16.36 g(100 larvae). The adult weight was 4.14 g (50 adults). The emergence rate was 96%.The chicken raising scale was expanding rapidly, because the chicken has become an daily necessary food. The chicken feed was the main control factor of the cost of chicken raising. The black soldier fly larvae were used as feed additives of the chicken to replace soybean. The replacement proportion was 10% and 12%. The results indicated that 12% of the replacement proportion was the best, the F/D was 2.26, the ADFI was 88.30 g/d and the ADG was 39.48 g/d. The results showed that the black soldier fly larvae can partly replace soybean as feed additives of the chicken.
