Black soldier fly Hermetia illucens L, which is a kind of important worldwide spread insect, could be used for managing large concentrations of animal manure and other biosolids. At the same time, after the swine manure was digested completely, the larvae/prepupae contain high protein and fat content, which is a high quality animal feedstuff. So the black soldier fly is considered to understand and exploit this activity for manure management. In order to lower its feeding price. This research was conducted to examine the influence to the development of the black soldier fly fed with different rates of daily chicken manure and artificial diets. So that we can screen a feed formula that can be used to increase the utilization of feed, the larvae survival rate, pupation rate, eclosion rate, and reduce the life-history of the black soldier fly. The research demonstrated that we substitute 1/4 chicken manure for 1/4 artificial diets. No significant difference was observed among the larvae weight gain, the prepupal weight, the larvae survival rate, prepupatior rate, and adult emergence. But the number of days from larvae to the prepupal stage, prepupal to pupae stage, pupae to adult stage was reduced. In comparison with the pure artificial diets that fed the larvae, the number of days from larvae to the prepupal stage was reduced for about one day, prepupal to pupae stage and pupae to adult stage was reduced for seven days. The black soldier fly larvae were collected from the swine field. Eight bacteria with the activity of cellulase and protease were isolated from the larvae gut. And there is one bacterial named HNB-3, which has much higher ability in digesting cellulose and protein. The categories are identified by appearance observation, physiology and biochemical experiment, and 16S rRNA gene sequence contrast. HNB-3 is Bacillus subtilis. The enzyme activity of the HNB-3 was determined using the methods of DNS and Folin. HNB-3 had the highest cellulase activity (7 IU) and protease activity (12 U/ml). The spectrum assay of HNB-3 was determined and found that HNB-3 had inhibitory effecacy on Xanthornonas oryzae pv. oryzae and Pyricularia oryzae Cav.Swine manure was converted using the black soldier fly larvae and the Bacillus subtilis HNB-3. The best inoculation number and time of Bacillus subtilis HNB-3 were optimized. This research demonstrated that 10% inoculum is the best. The larvae and HNB-3 were inoculated simultaneously. The procedure of swine manure co-conversion by the black soldier fly larvae and bacteria was established.
