In spinning preparatory process, drawing process is the last key process with drawingfunction, which can greatly improve the yarn irregularity and weight unevenness. With thedevelopment of modern automatic control technology and the application of new materials indrawing frames, the output speed of modern drawing frames have developed rapidly, at thesame time, along with the application of capacity-increasing technology, sliver can’s capacityhas been greatly improved. When output can filled with sliver, it’s needed to replace a emptysliver can. Modern drawing frames adopt manual, semiautomatic or automatic way to changethe sliver cans. With many deficiencies and defects as follows: less quantity of preparatorysliver can, low efficiency of can change, heavy labor intensity for knitter and so on, it’sseriously restricted the development of spinning industry in our country. Based on thedomestic and foreign automatic can change technology, this paper researched and analyzedthe key technologies of automatic can change such as can replacement and automatic sliverseparator, and put forward a flexibility can change mechanism which is applicable for variousdrawing frames. The main research work and innovation relevant to the research can be listedas follows:Firstly, analyzed the process requirements for automatic can change of drawing frames,focusing on the analysis of structure characteristics and working principle of front in front out,back in front out and rotary can change mechanism. Provided a basic framework to the designof can change mechanism.Secondly, made a quantitative and qualitative analysis of typical can change mechanismfor double-ended drawing frames. Built the mechanism’s motion model and established thetime sequence of can change movements. Based on these, this paper put forward the idea offlexibility can change mechanism. Improved the efficiency of can change by decreasing thewaiting times.Thirdly, analyzed the structure characteristics and the principle of sliver separate ofcommon automatic sliver separator, then, provided the theory basis for the design andimprovement of automatic sliver separator.Finally, this paper summarized the whole investigation for the automatic can changetechnology. Additionally, the next phase for the further research has been discussed.
