Study On Eco-friendly Denim Jeans Based On Product’s Life Cycle Theory

In recent years, the textile and apparel industry brings us wealth as well as serious environmental pollution. China’s total greenhouse gas emissions has overtaken the U.S. now. Therefore up to 23% of its emissions caused by manufacturing products to meet the needs of the developed countries. So when it comes to textile and garment exportations we need to cut down the greenhouse gas and consider our carbon footprint. Denim product is the most famous item all over the world, and its production process has a greater impact on the environment, so we chose it as study target for eco-friendly fashion design.Currently there are few studies on the life cycle environmental impact of denim garments, low-carbon denim apparel design principles were rarely studied in China while environmental friendly eco-label systerm has been applied in foreign countries which can’t be seen in China. First, this paper sets up a systematic analysis of the overall life cycle of denim jeans in various aspects of energy consuming, water depletion, and environmental effects, summed up denim jeans environmental impact control mode and it’s changing track. Defined through the expense of the environment and development,pollute,end-control,and sustainable development,obtains the connotation and the outer edge of the environmental development of low-carbon denim jeans. Then described the sustainable development of eco-design, also made of the constituent elements of environmentally friendly denim clothing, and must follow the design principles, establishes denim clothing up cycling with the downgrade cycling system to finish fashion and environmental friendly design. Highlight the ethical fashion design. Achieves the transformation of denim jeans life cycle from’cradle to grave’to’cradle to cradle’.Finally, through the study of fast fashion brand as well as textile and clothing eco-label status quo, and explore the underlying reasons behind the phenomenon of fast fashion demands of environmentally friendly, using a life cycle theory, complete denim apparel, environment-friendly denim clothing life cycle complete qualitative evaluation. Combined with a large number of domestic and international case studies, provides a theoretical basis and support for future ecological cowboy costume design.
