Knitted fabric, with excellent elasticity and extensibility, has soft texture and goodmoisture permeability. Knitted garment, with the characteristic of comfort ability, fitnessand no sense of restraint, can fully reflect the human body curve. So in recent years, theproportion of the knitted fabrics in the whole clothing industry has been rising. Therequirement of the quality of elastic knitting garment is higher. In the garment productionprocess, the sewing is one of the important Processes which affect the quality of clothing.Study on sewing process and sewing quality is helpful to technical improvement. As animportant garment production process, sewing quality control is relatively complex, whichis affected by many factors. Thus to achieve optimal quality of sewing must be relied onfully understanding the fabric performance, reasonable choosing the equipment andoptimizing sewing parameters setting. The sewing quality is mainly evaluated bysubjective compare so that the result is easy to be affected by environment and evaluators’subjective attitudes factors and lack of authority and certainty. This paper mainly makesresearch about the mentioned above, using scientific methods to determine reasonablesewing fabric parameters.The optimal combination of sewing process parameters of different fabrics wasresearched in this paper, so the experiment was divided into two parts:(1)Theclassification of the fabric. This experiment was based on the physical properties of fabrics,the thickness and weight, elasticity and the fabric strength of the fabric were tested.(2)Theorthogonal experiment about stitching the fabric. By the analysis of the factors influencethe sewing technology, combined the results of the control and select by the enterprises, itcan be found the sewing thread, foot pressure, needle size, and stitch density were the maincontrolling factors which affect the sewing technology of the elastic garments fabric. Sothe orthogonal experiment was designed to four factors and three levels.In this paper, the fabric is divided into four categories by using of SPSS statisticalanalysis software to test the results of the physical fabric classification. The first type offabric, characterized by fabric thickness, excellent not easy to tear extensibility. Second kinds of fabrics, characterized by thin, a greater extensibility, easy to tear. Third kinds offabrics, characterized by relatively thinner, small fabric elongation, not easy to tear.Fourthkinds of fabrics, characterized by thickness, little extensibility, hard to tear.The experiment results of seam tensile recovery rate, the experimental results of seamsmoothness, and the experimental results of seam strength were analyzed by the DPSstatistical software and orthogonal design assistant. the following conclusions weresummed up:(1)The sewing process parameters of the first type of fabric were determinedto that the sewing line20s/2,Foot pressure1level,File stitch density11pin/2cm. No.11needle.(2) The sewing process parameter of second kinds of fabrics for were determined tothat the sewing line20s/2, foot pressure3level, File stitch density11pin/2cm, No.14needle.(3)The sewing process parameter of second kinds of fabrics for were determined tothat the sewing line20s/2, foot pressure3level, File stitch density11pin/2cm, No.14needle.(4)The sewing process parameter of second kinds of fabrics for were determined tothat the sewing line20s/3, foot pressure3level, File stitch density11pin/2cm, No.14needle.The conclusions of this research, from the enterprise perspective, can provide theadvantageous reference for the apparel enterprise in order to select sewing productionprocess parameters rationally and scientifically. From the academic point of view, it can beas a reference to the later scholars to study garment sewing process parameters.
