The Research Of Textile Colour In The Northern Shaanxi Loess Plateau Region

The loess plateau of northern shaanxi is the birthplace of Chinese nation, and it isalso one of the original culture development place of China. As a kind of regional cultureform, loess plateau culture is an important part of Chinese culture, as well as the sum ofshaanxi people’s production and mental activities.From the geographical point of view, northern shaanxi loess plateau is a relativelyclosed and complete culture. In the process of long term historical evolution, it shapesunique humanistic ideas, arts and folk customs, especially in the colors. And this kind ofspecial color culture plays an important role on textiles. Textile color can reflect thecivilization of a society, it not only meets the demand of people’s clothing, also reflects thepeople’s spiritual pursuit to beauty.This article discusses northern shaanxi loess plateau region of textile color in fourparts.The first part gives a clear definition of the concept of textile, and introduces thedevelopment of textiles in shaanxi nowadays. Then, the article summarizes the coloringcharacteristics of shaanxi loess plateau region, combined with the local natural and humaneenvironment.The second part of the paper analyzes clothing color of four seasons through imagesof northern shaanxi loess plateau. Then for different age stage, say childhood, adolescence,adult, middle-aged and old, the paper analyzes clothing colors from every age and gender.The third part is about household textiles from the perspective of the color science.Household textile color analysis is mainly through two aspects, traditional and modernhome textiles which are commonly used in daily life. Through the analysis of thecharacteristics of the traditional home textiles’ colors and the compare with modern textiles,the paper outlines the characteristics of the region’s household textile colors.Through analyzing the region’s textile color, the last part of the paper is trying toconstruct a color system of clothing and household textiles. At the same time, it uses thecharacteristics of colors into the design of textile, so that we can combine the theory withpractice consistently.
