The Research On The Design And Application Of Taotie-pattern Household Textile With Post-modern Style

With the development of social economy, the change from industrial civilization to postindustrial civilization is in processing nowadays. Chinese post-modern design with different styles has promoted the diversification of household textile and has created numerous new demands in a new market. Characterized, personalized, functionalized and emotional design trends become the key to enhancing the added value of the household textiles. However, while people are enjoying the art experience and emotional sustenance brought by the artistic atmosphere of household textile with post-modern style, there is a lack of design spirit, innovation ability, traditional culture etc. Bronze period, as one of the origins of civilization widely regarded by anthropologists, it symbolizes the beginning of design cultural consciousness in Chinese craft art history, originating from ancient people’s production and life. Thus the style and feature of taotie pattern inevitably bear the hallmarks of their era. With innate mysterious feature and the similarity with Western original pattern coincidentally, taotie pattern is endowed with natural post-modern style. And because of the unique artistic charm, it is applied to a diversity of product designs. Given the background, we focused on cultural regression, combined innovation design technique with post-modern design style, and employed the methods of literature analysis, the research analysis and instance analysis to make a systematic analysis and study on the project. With the focus on the art characteristics of taotie pattern from the angle of the comparison of Chinese and Western cultures and the research of the present situation of evolution and development of Chinese post-modern style, we found the joint points between taotie pattern with post-modern design style in the aspects of culture, market and consumer psychological demands. Therefore, we can carry out a research on the design and application of taotie pattern in post-modern household textile and put forward innovation design methods, design principles and application form on the design of theme, color, texture, pattern design and a complete set of textiles design. At the end, we can verify the feasibility of this topic through practice.
