WECM using a wire electrode in scale of micrometer is suitable for machining slits and grooves.The electro-products in the gap always affect the machining accuracy. In this paper, the ring wiretravelling in one direction is proposed to enhance the removement of products in WECM, and thefollowing works have been done:1. The model of WECM with wire travelling in one direction is presented according to the basictheory of electrochemical machining. Furthermore, the distribution of the flow field along themachining gap was analyzed.2. A specified system for ECM had been developed. This system consists of2-dimensionmovement module, the electrolyte module, the power module and the constant tension system whichensures the stability of wire travelling.3. The influences of several process parameters, such as wire travelling speed, voltage, feedspeed, and concentration of electrolyte, were experimentally investigated. A slit with high-aspect-ratioin20was fabricated in a workpiece with5mm in thickness.4. Experimental results verified that dropping electrolyte could modify the localizationdissolution of WECM.
