The ITO (indium tin oxide) transparent conductive film with special optical and electricalproperties is widely used to make touch screen, display, organic light-emitting diodes and solar cellwhich brings enormous economic benefits. Some ITO lines need metalization, on its surface coatedwith a layer of nickel.The quality of nickel layer is crucial, so need to study the plating process andformula of nickel.In this paper, we mainly apply the chemical deposition on ITO conductive glass in order to studythe selective metalization and plate the nickel on the surface of ITO by magnetron sputtering. Now,electroless plating nickel is broadly applied in aerospace, chemical industry, electron, steelanti-corrosion, etc. Although there are lots of researchs about nickel plating in a world, the study ofselective electroless plating nickel on ITO conductive glass is still less.This thesis focus on researchof the formula of nickel plating, nickel plating process and pretreatment of the surface of ITO, andcomparing chemical deposition of nickel layer and magnetron sputtering nickel layer. In the designprocess of formula for nickel plating liquid, combined with the characteristics of ITO through trialand error, the best formula and nickel plating liquid is determined. By comparing the experimentalresults,use Potassium peroxydisulfate in acid as an etching solution, temperature controlled at about30℃, and the etching time for2~4min.In the process of conventional nickel sensitization and activation, we find stannous chloridecannot apply in sensitizing solution.The addition of stannous chloride will result in the nickel atomsdeposition on the glass without selection in the process of plating. Cuprous ions replaced stannousions in sensitizing solution, which solved the problem of non-selective brought by stannous chloride.This study made a innovative attempt to put forward nickel plating method without sensitization andachieved good results, which does without sensitization step. Plating pretreatment process of catalysis,activation and reduction, the pretreatment solution is stability to use for a long time. Finally,magnetron sputtering nickel layers have been compared with the electroless deposition.At last, we use Visual appearance, Crosscut adhesion assay, Scanning Electron Microscope(SEM) method to test for the quality of coating. The nickel plating is measured by four-point probesheet resistance tester and the composition of nickel plating layer is measured by EDS text.
