This research of topic is based on the print head iron core base parts with complicatedstructure. The center of the parts asymmetrical distribute with24core convex platform.Thedimension precision and position accuracy requirement of the thin wall thickness is quite high.It is belong to the type of non axisymmetric special-shaped parts which is difficult onprocessing forming. Since the existing precision casting forming methods has some defects,such as various processes; casting defects; low efficiency; big investment cost problem; etc.This paper proposes a warm extrusion forming process scheme of print head iron core base.First of all, the paper establishes a three-dimensional model of the print head iron corebase and then analyzes its structures, including analyses of extrusion process, design of ironcore base extrusion, determination of process parameters, calculation of blank size,calculation of deformation degree, calculation of warm extrusion pressure and selections ofextrusion equipment etc. Based on the analyses above, the paper builds the warm extrusionforming process plan of print head iron core base.With the aid of finite element numerical simulation technology, this paper analyzes themetal flow rule of the warm extrusion forming process and the influence law of processparameters on the extrusion process. The paper emphatically discuss the influence of differentextrusion temperature, extrusion speed and friction condition on the warm extrusion formingprocess, especially with equivalent strain, filling quality and load stroke curve, and predict thepossible defects. Comprehensive simulation results show that the parts plastic forming effectis good with uniform deformation and small flow stress under the condition of the extrusiontemperature with750℃and extrusion speed of5mm/s.Combined with the proposed warm extrusion forming process and the results ofnumerical simulation, extrusion part drawing is determined. Proper excessive arc andeffective cold finishing scheme is studied. Warm extrusion die is designed. Finally,experimental study and small-scale production is conducted. The performance metrics andmeasurement of products are proposed. The results show that the warm extrusion forming process of print head iron core basehave favorable forming effect. The dimensional precision and surface quality of the key partshave reached technical requirement. With a small amount of subsequent machining trimming,processing and forming difficulty has greatly reduced. The comprehensive mechanicalproperties are improved. The forming of parts has better economic efficiency. The applicationof warm extrusion process has a reference value to the similar nonaxissymmetry complexstructure parts.
