The dye vats’ allocation is a significant element in the dyeing and printingenterprises. It is also the key technique for reducing cost and improving productivity.In fact, the dye vats’ allocation is an optimal problem to find the optimal way of thedye vats’ allocation for orders. However, it is unfortunate that the optimal allocationhas not been derived. As for the problems of the low efficiency of manual allocationand utilization of the dye vats resource in the dyeing and printing enterprises, theprocess of the dye vats’ allocation for orders was studied for discrete event dynamicsystem. And the automata model of the dye vats’ allocation for orders was built in thispaper. Then by using the knowledge of dynamic programming, the optimal way of thedye vats’ allocation for an order can be obtained. Finally, an optimal system of dyevats’ allocation is developed based on the proposed algorithms.The main work is listed as follows.(1) The model of dye vats’ allocation for discrete event dynamic system is built.Based on the process of the dye vats’ allocation for orders, the automata model fordiscrete event dynamic system is established. By this way, all the ways of the dye vatsallocation for an order can be showed in the automata model.(2)The optimal algorithm for the dye vats’ allocation is designed. Firstly, theprocess of the dye vats’ allocation is divided into several stages according to theevolution process of the model behavior. Secondly, the performance index function isdefined at each stage. And the optimal objective function and the recursive relation ofperformance index function are defined on the basis of dynamic programming.Finally, to get the optimal way of the dye vats’ allocation for orders, the algorithms ofthe optimal dye vats allocation with a single discount factor is designed. Thearranging result shows that the utilization of dye vats increases greatly. While thequantity of orders becomes huge, the allocation will focus on some dye vats and theothers become vacant. Then the algorithm with two discount factors is presented. Bythis way, all the dye vats will be running and the utilization will improve a lot as well. (3)The optimal system of dye vats’ allocation is implemented. At first, the flowchart and functional module of the optimal system of dye vats allocation are analyzed.Then, the database of SQL2005is adopted in the paper. Finally, based on the optimalalgorithm of dye vats allocation proposed in this paper, the interface of theinformation system of the dye vats’ allocation is developed by using VisualBasic.NET.By applying the approach in the actual enterprise, the result shows that thearranging time and the manufacture time for orders are both reduced greatly. Theutilization level is also improved a lot. It means that the research plays an importantrole in the development of the information in the dyeing and printing enterprises.
