With development of modern manufacturing industry, ultra-precision CNC machinetools play a more and more important role for processing complex parts with higherprecision. Numerical control machine tools can not only meet the needs of the automaticproduction, but also guarantee the accuracy of parts. Error compensation method canimprove the machining accuracy with the original mechanical mechanism.On the basis of the theory of multi-body system kinematics and the characteristicsof the structure of machine tools, establish machine tools motion model and error model.Deducing the transformational relationship of cutting tool path, numerical control andtool path instruction provides theoretical basis for machine tool error compensation. UseVC++to develop machine tools error compensation software. Use UMAC controller,high precision grating ruler, drive, motor and feedback devices to build closed loopservo numerical control system of numerical control machine tools. When the system iscompleted, debug machine and use VC++to develop numerical control operationsystem based on UMAC.Accurate measurement of machine tools error is the base of machine tools errorcompensation. Use laser interferometer instrument to measure displacement error ofmachine tools and use laser doppler measurement instrument to measure machine toolstraightness error. Make the error parameter identification based on the measurementdata by Nine Lines Method and get13groups error data. Apply error data to machinetools error compensation software. According to the component instance write machinetool trajectory. Get ideal cutting tool path, numerical control instructions and the actualcutting tool path from error compensation software.To study cutting performance of the lathe, use machine dynamic balancing to testdynamic balance and get significant achievement from the experiment. Make surfaceroughnessas criterion to measure machine tool cutting performance. Use ultra-highprecision roughness profile meter to get the surface roughness. Make machine toolcutting experiment with different spindle speed, compare the surface quality of each toshow the effect of spindle speed on cutting performance.
