The thermoplastic composite materials play an increasing important role in thenational economy in various industries, because of their low density, high strength, designable, easy processing, recyclable and other advantages. In recent years, theABS, as the important engineering material, has got more attention. In this paper,BF was blended into ABS, to improve the performance of ABS resin and expand theuse of the material.Considering the effect on properties of modified ABS blends by adding fiber, coupling agent, compatibility agent, toughening agent and other substances, thesecomposites, BF/ABS, BF/SMA/ABS, BF/SMA/Elastomer/ABS were prepared bymelting blending method and the mechanical properties of these composites wereanalyzed by tensile, flexural and impact test. These results show that, when theamount of BF is20%, KH5501.5%, SMA5%and elastomer10%, the compositesproperties reached the highest. Specifically, the tensile, flexural and impact strengthof composites reached to105Mpa,113Mpa and132J/m, respectively. The fracture surface of composite materials was observed by SEM to analyzethe modification performance. The length distribution of fibers in the compositeswas analyzed by measuring the fibers that was got after burning composites. Themelt fluidity, the thermal stability and the heat resistance of composites were testedby MFR, VST and TG, respectively. The study shows that the average fiber length is0.43mm. The MFR is10g/10min and the VST is126℃.In this paper, the feeding method, fiber morphology, extrusion temperature andscrew speed were discussed, respectively. The results show that, secondary feedingmethod can improve the mechanical properties of the composites. The reinforcingeffort of continuous fibers is better than the chopped fibers. When fibers and plasticwere blended at220℃with170rpm of screw speed, the composite propertiesreached the highest.
