Three development tendencies of the welding process nowadays areautomation, intelligence and network. In this paper, we optimize a weldingequipment of a certain project, which contains WiFi communication, seam trackingremote control system and seam tracking control system based on embedded system.Combined with electromagnetic sensors, we do series of experiments to examine thesystem’s seam tracking performance to deferent seam materials.We develop seam tracking remote control systems and control system, designthe circuit layout, and achieve every module functions of the circuit board byquantities of software debugging. To achieve the process of seam tracking wirelessWiFi network control and data sharing, we employ the embedded connectionbetween the microcontroller STM32F405/F373and Wizfi210wireless modules,which also enables welding control in complex environments.Based on the existing seam tracking controller, we improve and perfect thehardware circuit layout further. We analysis the drawbacks of the original controlsystem, including power supply instability, poor anti-jamming capability,unsatisfactory sensor signal processing and collection and unable to get accurate thestepping motor’s displacement. So we redesigned the seam tracking control systemand optimize the performance of the controller.Under the summary of the inadequacy of the existing control system, we adoptthe following design of the seam tracking control system. Firstly, we adopt theisolated part of the system power supply, which means the external power input andthe system is separated. What’s more, we adopt the separate multi-stage regulatorpower supply to various parts of the system, which eliminates the disturbance ofone another. Secondly, we adopt multi-stage filter settings in the sensor’s signalprocessing part to inhibit clutter noises. Next, we adopt SCM timer to simulate the16bits DA converter to collect the common mode voltage signal intelligently. Also,we adopt16bits microcontroller to collect peripherals’ information differentially,whose gain is adjustable. Next, we adopt dual timer setting high transmission ratioopt coupler driver and in stepper drivers, to control the stepper motor movingadjusting to the seam.In many applications of testing, the different material of seam impact the memeasure signal. With the relationship between the signal of voltage anddisplacement, the testing of seam tracking has been carried. Finding the errorbetween practicable test and theory calculation, the accuracy of seam tracking isless than±1mm has been acquired, and analyzing the influence seam tracking factors with the electromagnetic sensors.
