Using ship antifouling paints is a more effective and economical method forpreventing marine biofouling which achieves the goal by combinations of antifoulingcompound and resin. Traditional ship antifouling paints are so likely to enter foodchain as to pose a threat to the ecological safety and human health. To exploit a noveland environmental-friendly ship antifouling paint, a new Nano-silverParticle@Polyvinyl Pyrrolidone (NSP@PVP) colloid prepared by our team was usedas antifouling compound. Refer to designing practice of traditional ship antifoulingpaints, the new preparing process and the performance of new designed shipantifouling paints were studied deeply.Firstly, the NSP@PVP colloids were prepared through AgNO3reduced byhydroxyphenol in Dimethyl Formamide (DMF) solvents. After that, the colloidal solwas purified by normal butanol through centrifugation and re-dispersion. The particlediameter test and ultraviolet-visible absorption spectroscopy test showed diameter ofNSP@PVP was about35nm and absorption peak was distinct under the optimalpreparation condition.Secondly, acrylic resin synthesized on different conditions and fillers werestudied in this paper. The influences of resins and fillers on coating properties wereresearched on this basis. Herein, the matched acrylic resin and filler were determined.Finally, on the basis of designing principles of traditional ship antifouling paintformulas, the author tried to find a new antifouling paint formula using NSP@PVP.The main idea is that primary antifouling compound is replaced with NSP@PVP.According to the physical and chemical properties of the paint film, the proportion ofresins, biocides, solvents, fillers, and various additives were further adjusted andoptimized.
