With the improving quality requirements on the market, aluminum hot rolling controlsystem is becoming a hot spot of research. In order to ensure the aluminium stripstraightness and adjust thickness appropriately, the size of the tension between stands hasplayed a key role to the stability of the rolling system and quality of products. This articlerelies on the subject of (1+1) type2400aluminum hot rolling mills unit in one factory ofChongqing, and conducting the thorough research into tension control system.Firstly, we have described the composition of the (1+1) type2400aluminum hotrolling mills control system and the composition of the tension system, calculatingmathematical model by means of analyzing theories of hot rolling mills tension, we learnabout the principle of tension control by changing velocity, going a step further to makesystem modeling and design of double closed loop speed governing systems, subsequentlyhaving inferred mathematical model of tension system.Secondly, we have detailedly described control principles and control laws andcharacteristic parameter recognition and self-adaptive control scheme of model-freeadaptive control theory, and designing the controller by self-adaptive control scheme,making a simulation study to that controller and analyzing the control performance tocompare with the conventional PID controller.Finally, aiming at the deficiency of conventional PID controller algorithm, bystudying the control method of aluminum hot rolling mills tension, at the controlled objectof the mathematical model of tension system, we put forward adopting model-freeadaptive control of grey prediction. It compensates the time delay of system andparameters of a time-varying, thus forming the new control law on the controlled object.The simulations reveal that the application of model-free adaptive control of greyprediction are better than the convention PID control, and reduce system overshoot andsetting time, and increase the robustness, so it has solved the complex problem that thesystem is time-varying and tight coupling in the tension control.
