Chongqing is not only the unique municipality in the western regions but also theeconomic center and major modern manufacturing base along the upper reaches of theYangtze River. Our nation has attached great importance to the process of urbanizationin Chongqing.Mountain is the mainly terrain in Chongqing,so said the "mountain".General Secretary Hu Jintao has stressed that "the construction of ecological civilizationis the long-term plan relating to people’s welfare and nation’s future." Research theinteraction between urbanization and geological environment in Mountainous Regionscan help us to identify the ongoing urbanization related issues, provide scientific theoryand reasonable guidelines for sustainable development of mountain urbanization andgeological environment.Based on the “twelfth five-year” national science and technology support plansubject,this article has researched the interaction between urbanization and geologicalenvironment in Ba-nan by "3S"technology application,field investigation, extensivecollection of data and summarize the existing results,mainly worked on the followingfour areas:①A geological environment quality indicators of mountain town with evaluationgrading standards has been constructed. Its index weigh has been determined byAHP.According to the urban planning program of Ba-nan,this article divided theresearch area into seven sub-areas by urban functions. The geological environment ofBa-nan during the "Eleventh Five-Year" has been evaluated and analyzed by the fuzzycomprehensive evaluation method.A zoning maps and comparison chart of geologicalenvironment have been drawn according to the evaluation results.②Based on the study on the geological environment quality, an evaluation systemof urbanization in mountain areas has been built.Its index weigh has been determined byAHP.The urbanization composite index of Ba-nan during the "Eleventh Five-Year" hasbeen calculated by the comprehensive index method, the comparison chart ofurbanization level has been drawn by the evaluation results.③Based on the evaluation results of urbanization and geological environment,thecoordination between urbanization and geological environment in mountain regions hasbeen further researched.Each coordination degree,comprehensive evaluation index andcoordinated development factor has been calculated.The level of coordination and the type of coordinated development during the "Eleventh Five-Year" has been determinedby the coordinate devaluation rating system and classification system of coordinateddevelopment type.④By comparing the level of coordination and the type of coordinated developmentwithin each areas of Ba-nan during the "Eleventh Five-Year",the interaction betweenurbanization and geological environment has been further researched. Recommendationand outlook for further construction in mountain regions have been proposed bypreliminary exploration of sustainable development.
