Gear manufacturing is the largest industry in the machinery basic parts. WithChina’s rapid development of equipment manufacturing level, gear processingrequirements are also increasing. Continued application of advanced CNC equipment,the cutting process and technology has changed dramatically. Shaving gear finishingprocess as a core part of the process, is now widely used in a variety of gear finishing,ranging from cars, reducers, agricultural machinery and other gear used by small tolarge marine turbines with reduction gear. Gear shaving processing is a base process inthe field of manufacturing, and metal cutting fluid is one of the most important materialin the shaving process. In the shaving process, most of the energy consumed in thefriction between tool and chip, tool the workpiece, which requires metal cutting fluidmust have good lubrication, rust, cleaning and cooling performance.Traditional oil-based cutting fluid has poor cooling effect, when during high-speedcutting, due to the heat, the poor heat transfer effect the oil-based cutting fluid has, itcan make the temperature be too high among the cutting zone, as well as cutting oilproduce the phenomenon such as smoke, fire and so on, even affect the accuracy of theworkpiece because of the high temperature easy to produce hot deformation ofworkpiece. Compared with oil-based cutting fluids, water-based cutting fluid has goodheat resistance, cleanability, conducive to the health and safety of the operation siteand,and also water solubility which can bring economy. With the continuous developmentand consumption of non-renewable resources such as oil, making the research anddevelopment of water-based cutting fluids have a more broad application prospects.In this paper, metal cutting fluid is the basic starting point, gear shaving machine isthe research object, and we proposed a solution which can convert oil-based cuttingfluid into water-based cutting fluid in order to achieve the green. Described the functionand classification of cutting fluid, experiments has been done based on the physical andchemical properties of the selected cutting fluid, including the stability of the cuttingfluid, test allowances, deforming, rust, paint adaptation of NC machine tools. Proposeddifferent cutting fluid selection methods according to different machine tools, cuttingtools, materials and processing methods. Carried out Shaving processing experimentsusing different types of cutting fluid, did comparative analysis from the quality of workpiece, tool life, cost, and environmental protection aspects, and concluded matters need attention of the cutting fluid during processing. Using fuzzy comprehensive evaluationmethod to evaluate the processing results. Proposed cutting fluid selection andoptimization decision-making model for green manufacturing, which is based onprocessing time, quality, cost, resource and environment affect. Applied this model intoprocessing, to show that the overall performance of water-based cutting fluid is betterthan oil-based cutting fluids, as well as put forward the gear shaving processing processparameters optimization idea to provide a theoretical basis for the choice of shavingcutting fluid.
