An Aesthetic Study On The The Han Dynasty Character Costumes

With profundity and compatibility, the Han Dynasty character costumes show thegrand and magnificent aspects of Chinese nation, while Han Dynasty Painting isall-inclusive, recording the history at that time with painting, and are not only thesignificant cultural legacies of Han Dynasty but rare art works. Costumes of charactersin Han Dynasty Painting combine such two kinds of art, which have not only highhistorical and cultural value but great esthetical value. Up to date, however, there arefew scholars studying costumes of characters in Han Dynasty Painting while there aremany ones studying Han Dynasty Painting. This paper gives a systematic study of HanDynasty Painting from three aspects: costumes of characters in Han Dynasty Painting,aesthetics and culture.such three aspects are detailed as follows:Firstly, overview concerning costumes of characters in Han Dynasty Painting. Suchcostumes are the combination of Han Dynasty costumes and painting, which are a kindof new art with the features of both Han Dynasty costumes and painting. The thesisstarts from the relationship among such costumes herein with Han Dynasty Painting andcostumes so as to conduce an analysis on the real relationship between such costumesand social life in the Han Dynasty as well as the Han Dynasty costumes in reality.Secondly, classification of costumes of the people in Han Dynasty Painting. HanDynasty Painting is of diversity and costumes herein almost involves every aspect ofsocial life at that time, so it is impossible to conduct a comprehensive study of it. In thepaintings left, the costumes of kabukis, knights, nobles and laborers are quite neat andbright, which represent the aesthetic and cultural features of different classes at that time.The paper conducts a specific study on costumes of such four kinds of figures so as tounderstand better the aesthetic culture from such costumes.Lastly, the aesthetic features of costumes of characters in Han Dynasty Painting.Costumes herein are with several aesthetic features for they are the combination of HanDynasty Painting and costumes. The paper elaborates on such aesthetic features fromthe aspect of aesthetics by studying the unifications between its practicality and artistry,uniformity and diversity, realism and freehand brushwork as well as the direction oftraditional culture toward aesthetics.
