Blending is one of the important ways to realize of the modification of polymer andproduce high-performance new materials. Due to its advantages in simple methods andfavorbale effects, people do a lot of research and application about it. Polyvinyl chloride(PVC) has excellent physical performance and low cost, can take the place of traditional metalmaterials and wood in many fields. The outstanding advantages of PVC are the chemicalcorrosion resistance, fire resistance, good permeability, etc., so it is the best cost-effectivegeneral materials. But PVC also has some defects and shortcomings, its poor toughness, weakheat resistance, and bad processing rheological behavior restrict its widely use in its field ofapplication.After reinforced by glass fiber, PVC’ strength, rigidity and modulus have greatlyimproved, but the composite materials can be both strengthened and toughened only when theinterface in fiber and matrix has a good bonding effect. But the toughness of PVC compositematerial reinforced by glass fiber remains to be improved. Therefore, when preparing for highcomprehensive properties of PVC composite material, we should remain its strength, stiffnessand heat-resistant properties, at the same time further improve its toughness. That will be thehot spot in the research of PVC.This paper tests the mechanical properties of glass fiber reinforced PVC compositematerial. Glass fiber can enhanced the tensile and the bending strength in a large extent, andwhen glass fiber’content is15percent, the comprehensive performance of composite materialis the best. Then contrastively analysis modifier CPE, ACR and ACM’influence on toughnessof PVC composite material, choose the best addition amount of modifiers. The results provethat the new impact modifier ACM has the best toughening effect on PVC composite material.Finally adding in three kinds of modifiers respectively and mixed with glass fiber, PVCcomposite material’ strength and toughness are both improved to a certain extent, and thecomposite material’s modification effects will reach the top when the content of ACM is5percent. By the observation of scanning electron microscopy (SEM), CPE can make somenetworks and silver lines in the cross-sections; After joining in ACR, PVC compositematerial’ cross-sections become coarser, and form a certain number of silver lines; ACM canform a large number of "twine", improve the distribution and orientation of glass fiber in thecomposite material, ACM can improve PVC composite material’ toughness, and itsmicrostructure and morphology distribution directly affect the macro mechanical properties ofGF/PVC.In this article, through comparison and analysis, find the effect laws about themechanical properties of rigid PVC composites about glass fiber, modifier types and itsdosage. Provide theoretical basis and application foundation in producing excellentperformance PVC materials, its industrial application value and realistic significance areprominent.
