Non-fossil based biopolyester poly (3-hydroxybutyrate-co-4-hydroxybutyrate) (P3/4HB) was melt-mixed with short glass fibers to improve the properties of the biopolyester and reduce the cost. At last mean fiber length increased 4.72 times by shortening the route of glass fiber in the co-rotating selfwiping twin-screw extruder and raising the temperature of process. Calcium stearate, two kinds of paraffin waxs and modified ethylene bis stearamide (TAF) were investigated as lubricants for the P3/4HB composites. It revealed that TAF is the most efficient lubricant to reduce exposure of glass fiber and increase smooth finish of the P3/4HB/SGF composites. 2,2'-(1,3-Phenylene)bis-2-oxazoline (1,3-PBO) and pyromellitic dianhydride (PMDA) were used as crosslinkers to increase the mechanical properties of the composites and reduce the degradation of P3/4HB. It showed that 1,3-PBO is the better efficient crosslinker. At last we found out the optimum condition for the composites that is 1.5phr TAF ,1phr 1,3-PBO and about 30%wt glass fiber content. And the maximum of tensile strength, tensile modulus and impact strength of the composites is 3.71,6.64,1.82 times to pure P3/4HB relatively. In recent years, click reactions have converged into a powerful tool set for surface modification scientists because of their high yields, high selectivity, and exceptional tolerance towards a wide range of functional groups and reaction conditions. In this paper, we tried to click reaction on glass fiber surface. First we syntheticed a new silane coupling agent, and the silane coupling agent had a azid group. Then we transferred the new silane coupling agent on to galss fiber surface. Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) and Energy Dispersive Spectrometer(EDS) showed we had succeed to transfer the agent on glass fiber surface. So we got a modified glass fiber with azid. Last we succeeded to carry out click chemistry reaction on glass fiber surface.
