The ribbon conveyer, which is the traction and bearing carrier of the conveyer belt, is thefundamental equipment of production and transportation of the coal as well as the constantconveying equipment of material delivery via the movement of the conveying belt. With thedevelopment of the expanding scale of industrial production and technical advancement, theconveyer belt proceeds toward long distance transportation, bulk volume, mighty power, highspeed, big dip angle and multi-motor drive.Pertaining to the main shaft transportation system of Baoji Beimafang Coal industrialCo.Ltd., the necessities related to adopting double shear drums to uplift the current statementand its improvement furthermore were analyzed in accompany with the introduction of PLCfor variable frequency driving. In addition, the control scheme of driving large dip angleribbon conveyer was made before the transformation of the original production system.Three major problems in relation to the transportation system improvement were referredto as follows: firstly, the current statement and its improvement of the mine hoistingtransportation system of the Baoji’s company, the accreditation of the transporting capacity onthe floor and the productivity of the underground transportation before and after thetransformation and the analysis of the transformative necessity of the uplifting transportationsystem. Secondly, the overall design of the electrical power control system concerning theconveyer belt and the hardware design of the above system on the basis of PLC and thefrequency converter as well as the software one pertaining to the soft starter, power balanceand the integrated protection. Furthermore, the selection of the starting characteristics and theacceleration control curves and the ideal and real distribution of the drums’ power traction aswell as the project of control strategy of the power balance with velocity compensation in accordance with the frequency converter, PID’s features and the real distribution ratio of thedrum’s power traction.At last, the simulative model of vector frequency converter was built with the advantageof graphical interfaces in MATLAB on the basis of which the power balance control systemwas built for the using of PID control with the site test made.In order to enhance the control accuracy of the belt machine’s power balance, themaster-slave control was adopted in the process of the design. The speed of the control systemwas stipulated in the light of the requests made by the belt transportation by the masterfrequency converter, the slave one’s torque and speed was determined by the master one, thusleading to the double balance of the speed and torque. The power balance control of theribbon conveyer was also stipulated by the given speed according to the transformation of theload.
