Drainage is the most effective method to control gas in the coal mine. However,the complicated drainage system has potential risks in the hazardous environment ofcoal mines. In the recent years, with the increase of mining depth, coal spontaneouscombustion and gas hazard have interaction coupling, which led the coal spontaneouscombustion accident.Under this background, the safety of gas drainage is very necessary. Thus thispaper investigates the environment of gas drainage and gas control measures in301coal mines, which reveals the current situation of gas drainage hazards. Then thesoftware called COMSOL is applied to simulate gas drainage process. Also, thesoftware is adopted to study in which way relevant factors influence gas drainageconcentration and coal temperature increase, resulting in the gas drainage hazard.Based on the simulation of relevant factors, the factors causing gas drainage accidentsare identified and fault tree model is established to analyse gas drainage accidents. Onthe basis of the fault tree model and the situation of coal mines, the optimalprevention and control methods for gas drainage accidents are recognized, and themethods to calculate the probability of gas drainage accidents. After that, theassessment model for the consequence severity of gas explosion in the extraction tubeand coal spontaneous combustion accidents caused by gas drainage is established toevaluate the consequence severity of gas drainage accidents. Considering the gasexplosion in drainage tubes and coal spontaneous combustion accidents caused by gasdrainage, the assessment standard for safety drainage is made.Adopting the established assessment model in Yuwu Mining Company andTongxin Coal Mine, getting the safety of gas drainage in various places. The softwareis developed to assess gas drainage risks, making the risk assessment convenient andfeasible.
