Gear is the main parts of mechanical drive unit, and it has widely been used inmechanical and electrical products. With the development of automobile&motorcyclemanufacturing, aero and space technologies, shipbuilding industry, wind energy technology,communication, automation and control technology. The manufacturing technician of tinyand extra large gear, especially the detection of high precision gears has achieved a rapiddevelopment. At present, the traditional measuring instruments are mostly used to detectgears in the domestic enterprises of Gear processing and manufacturing. This measuringmethod is not only low inefficiency and workload, and is not suitable for the onlinemeasurement of mass gears for the special geometry of gear products. As a generalmeasuring equipment of mechanical parts, the Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) has alevel of popularity in domestic company. In spite of this, the calculate method and evaluatingsoft based on CMM are not mature enough. So, studying on the detection technology of gearerrors based on CMM has been of great significance, which both in improving the detectionprecision and promoting the development of our country’s gear industry.As the fundamental gear, involute cylindrical gear has the advantage of steadytransmission and low noise, which is most popular in the equipment of mechanical andelectrical transmission. The thesis regards the involute as the object of research, and makes aresearch on the pitch and profile deviation of involute cylindrical gear error.(1) The computing method of evaluating profile deviation for involute cylindrical gearis studied. The paper presents a detailed analysis of evaluating methods for profile deviationin recent years. Based on in-depth study,promoted the new method of evaluating profiledeviation——Involute Slide. The mathematical model of tooth profile for involutecylindrical gears was built at the basis of Involute Slide. Then we deduced a general formulafor evaluating profile deviation combining the mathematical model.(2) The chapter introduced traditional method of evaluating profile and analyzed thefitting algorithm for modern precision measurement. And then, the Move Least Square wasapplied to evaluating pitch deviation on the basis of in-depth study of mesh-less finite element method. By taking an example of the cylindrical gear (teeth34, mod34, pressureangle20degree), the two algorithm MLS and LS were used to fit the profile involute. In theresults, we obtained a conclusion that use MLS to fit profile involute can reduce the fittingerror. On that basis, the mathematical model of evaluating pitch deviation according to themethod of finding the intersection between involute and reference circle. And the MATLABprogram was designed to realize the accurate assessments of pitch deviation.(3) The composite Coordinate Measuring Machine (Optiv-performance-222) was usedto gear make a measuring experiment. And then, the mathematical model was validated withexperimental data. The comparison between analytical and experimental shows that themodel of pitch and profile deviation is reasonable.(4) The MATLAB was used to develop the prototype of evaluating pitch and profiledeviation, which combined with the principle of GUI interface design. Only by operating thesimple menu of human-computer interaction in the prototype, users can obtain the accuratevalue of pitch and profile deviation. And also, the prototype can evaluate the value whetheror not automatically.
