Modular machine tool has the characters of flexible configuration, stablemachining precision, high production efficiency, etc, it is widely used in massproduction of cars tractors and other machinery industry. Combined with Product-School-Research project, a set of drilling and reaming modular machine tool wasdesigned, to machining content of the180th process of multiples of diesel modelcylinder blocks of YTO (Luoyang) Diesel Engine Co., Ltd.For the content and requirements of the180th process of diesel engines cylinderblocks processing line, the14kinds of cylinder blocks are blended, the forms of theworkpiece positioning and clamping are analyzed, the process solutions of variety ofdiesel engines cylinder blocks is determined in the same line, and the configurationform of the machine tool that drill and reaming are processed on both lie face andinclined plane at the same time is adopted. The appropriate cutting parameters areselected according to the technology content and the requirement of production cycle.The corresponding tools, arbor, spindle box, power box, sliding table, etc are designedand choose. And the process diagram of parts, the schematic of processing, the drawingof combined machine tool linked dimension of “three maps a card” are designed.The diesel engines cylinder block is located by active dowel pins, the cuttingtools are guided by interchangeable guide sleeves, the active drilling template isdesigned, and the design of special fixture of the drilling and reaming modularmachine tool are completed. The statics analysis and modal analysis of its right holderare carried on. The design defect that lack of strength of right holder is found and theimprovement of its structure is carried on. Thus reducing the maximum stress and themaximum displacement value, thereby ensuring the design performance can satisfy theprocessing requirement. The modal analysis shows that the natural frequency of theright holder far away from the exciting frequency, it would not cause resonance while it is running normally, and the design can ensure the reliability of precision machining.The trial cut and acceptance of modular machine tool has been completed, and itsvarious technical indexes have met the requirement.
