In the use of the benefit of microbial, people also gradually realize the seriousharm it brings. Antimicrobial coating is one of the most effective means to preventmicrobiological hazards. The effective components of antibacterial coatings areantibacterial agents. In the traditional antibacterial coating, the antimicrobial agent isdispersed in the resin matrix by physics, which makes it easy to migrate, precipitate,affecting the antimicrobial properties of the coating. While in structural antibacterialpaint, the antimicrobial agent in resin is connected by chemical action, obtaining thesafe, efficient, stable and slow-release antimicrobial coatings.In this paper, the synthesis of silicone/cuprous modified acrylic resin was studiedand its performance had been tested. The copper antibacterial agent is attached to theacrylic resin matrix by chemical reaction, then using organosilicone to gain a kind ofsilicone-modified acrylic resin, and the antibacterial properties were studied. Firstly,two kinds of copper containing substances: oleic acid coated cuprous oxide sol andbasic copper oleate are prepared; then copper material, acrylate monomer andorganosilicon are polymerized together by solution polymerization method, so thecopper antibacterial function are attached to the resin through chemical bonding toobtain a structural antibacterial agent.Through the experiment, the synthesis process of oleic acid coated Cu2O sol isdetermined. The reduction reaction is under the temperature of40°C, the temperatureof60°C guarantees the oleic acid coating sol by chemistry, thus improving the stabilityof sol system; The temperature of preparation of basic copper oleate is35°C to shortenthe test cycle.Through the experiment, the synthesis process of silicone/cuprous modified acrylicresin is determined. The monomer ratio of MMA: BA: AA=5:3.74:0.325, the synthesistemperature is80°C. The largest added amount of Cu+and VTES is0.81%and5%respectively, the limited amount of basic copper oleate is0.2g.The structure of modified resin were determined by infrared FT-IR and XPS test;TG analysis showed that the heat resistance of silicone modified resin is better thanacrylic resin; electrochemical tests about the release of copper ion indicated copper ionconcentration finally remained at2.18×10-10mol L-1; the contact angle measurementconformed that before the amount of silicone reaching the maximum of5%, with theincrease of silicon content, resin contact angle increases, when the silicon content is5%,the contact angle is96.7°; the antibacterial experiment showed modified resin hascertain antibacterial.
