With the rapid development of manufacturing industry, the application of solidcarbide cutting tools ave been more and more widely used in CNC machines.In thefield of high-speed cutting, it is also accounted for a large proportion. However, thegrinding efficiency of solid carbide cutting tools in toolmaker is low, and it is difficultto control processing quality, prone to the cutting edge chipping,chatter mark, cracks,burns and other damages. So to study the removal mechanism and formationmechanism of damage of solid carbide cutting tools, it is of great theoretical andpractical significance. Due to it is difficult to test the grinding force and the grindingtemperature in grinding process on the five-axis tool grinder,compared to the surfacegrinding machine, so it was used to simulate the experiment.In the thesis, grindingprocess, the grinding force, grinding temperature, and surface roughness, surfacemorphology, and surface damage were detected in the simulation experiment ofgrinding of the carbide cutting tools on the surface grinder. It aimed at improving thegrinding efficiency of solid carbide cutting tools, understanding the grindingmechanism,and enhancing the stability of the tool quality.In the thesis, the key step of grinding of the solid carbide end mill on the currentfive-axis tool grinder was analyzed. The five-axis tool grinder grinding parameterswere converted into the surface grinder grinding equivalent parameters. A lot ofgrinding experiments about umfangsschneide, spiral groove and other key steps weredone on surface grinderThrough a large number of experiments,the impact of various processingparameters on the processing quality evaluation factors(grinding force, grindingtemperature, surface micro topography, surface roughness, surface and subsurfacedamage) were analyzed in detail.Investigations showed that the grinding efficiency offactories was low, it could be raise more than2times for the different grinding step.For the step of the helical groove grinding, That grinding quality was unstable wasfound when the wheel speed was low. With the increasing of grinding times, grindingquality gradually deteriorated.while after improve wheel speed, the relative stabilityof grinding quality was better.
