Polycarbonate, is short for PC. It’s a kind of Engineering plastics. PC shows alot of excellent comprehensive properties. PC has better transmittance, strong rigidity,high heat distortion temperature, the good impact properties, good creep resistance,excellent thermostability and good dimension stability. It can be painted easily. Theproperties can be stability over a wide temperature range. It burns slowly and it canextinguish slowly when it is away from the fire. The major disadvantages of PC aresensitive to the gap, stress cracking easily, low fatigue strength and low wearresistance, what’s more, it is not easy to be processed, high cost and it has poorerosion resistance to solvent. All of the above limit the application of PC. Theblending of PC/PBT can reduce the melt viscosity significantly, easy to be processedand erosion resistance to solvent as the proportion of PBT becomes high. PC and PBThave the similar chemical structures. The blend of PC/PBT are partially miscible.They need to add applicable compatilizers to make them better compatible andimprove comprehensive properties. PC/PBT alloy can replace PP and PU for the autoparts because of its lightweight. This accords the development tendency of the futureof the car with lightweight.The present paper researched on the best experiment formulas and the properties.The alloy can both have high mechanical properties and outstanding processingproperties. The experiment showed that KT-22should be the best one due to theexcellent comprehensive properties of its preparing alloy. When the usage of KT-22is5%, its impact strength is62.05KJ/m2, its elongation at break is81.46%, its tensilestrength is61.85MPa and its flexural modulus is2865.79MPa.The MFR can be up to34.60g/10min. The comprehensive properties are the best, so it is the appropriateusage. When PC/PBT equals75/25, the alloy has the best mechanical properties andprocessing properties. While add25%GF to the enhanced the alloy, it can not onlyimprove the rigidity but also have the minimum loss with good surface finish. Therange of application becomes more broadly and it has good development prospect.
