PC has been wildly used in auto,electronic,electrical,household appliance fields with its good dimension stability, heat resistance, chemical resistance and high impact, low water absorption,non-toxic, good dielectric properties, but PC also has some disadvantages like high melt viscosity, poor fluidity, easy to stress cracks, bad solvent resistant ability, notch sensitive, thickness sensitive to internal stress and impact strength, high price, which limit its application in engineering plastics, whereas ABS features high strength, light weight, good impact, excellent processibility and comparative lower price, which make up PC's disadvantages. So PC/ABS alloy has been widely used in different fields since developed by US Borg Warner Company in 1963.This paper researched PC grade, ABS grade, ratio of PC/ABS, type and amount of compatilizer, extrusion process parameter's impact on PC/ABS properties, the results show PC grade,ABS grade have direct impact on PC/ABS properties, but the transfer effect is not proportional, it's affectd by compatility of PC and ABS. ABS-X type compatilizer has better compatility effect, while X-Y type compatilizer and some type polymers can increase some aspect properties effectively. Higher PC content in PC/ABS alloy, higher tenstile strength, flexural strength, flexural modulus, Rockwell Hardness, HDT and VICAT softening point, whereas lower melt index, relationship is approximate simple linear. Elongation rate and impact strength have complicated multimodal increase with increase of PC content.The test found that Extrusion temperature between 240 and 260?, screw speed between 500 and 700 are proper conditions for PC/ABS alloy processing.Three types PC/ABS alloy are made by experiment. The melt index of PC/ABS-40 with 40 parts PC, PC/ABS-60 with 60 parts PC,PC/ABS-85 with 85 parts PC gradually reduce,heat resist ability gradually increase, and PC/ABS-60 has highest impact strength.As per formula feature, a PC drying system was added, and after some control modification and optimization, the thress PC/ABS alloys were made successfully in industrial factility.
