ABS resin is the amorphous structure, because of its molecular structure hasrigidity and flexible properties, so on the performance it has rigidity, toughness andhardness with balanced mechanical properties, in addition, it also has good resistanceto low temperature resistance, dimensional stability and workability coloring, so it iswidely used. The ABS comprehensive performance is excellent, but it also has poorheat resistance and poor solvent base shortcomings, and so on, so it can’t satisfyhuman’s need. To improve all aspects of performance of ABS, many modifiedtechniques and methods are crop up here and there. Therein, ABS with itscomplementary polymer to modify on the performance, this method is very effectiveand important. PET and PBT are crystalline structures, it has superior heat resistance,resistance to chemical reagent and high mechanical strength. Using them to modify ofABS, could make up for the defect of ABS on the performance, preparing theexcellent comprehensive performance of alloy materials. The ABS/PET andABS/PBT alloys have more research in abroad, domestic research is relatively small,and largely at the development stage, it lack of using for industrial production.Therefore, research on ABS and ABS/PBT/PET alloy is a very meaningful work, itcan not only narrow the gap with foreign, and it can promote the ABS, ABS/PBT/PETalloy of industrial production.According to polymer thermodynamics principle, the amorphous polymer and thecrystalline polymer are incompatible systems, if mixing them mechanical meltblending simply, due to the bad compatibility, we can not get PPE of excellentperformance, even sometimes the performance can’t more than the single polymer.To solve this problem, effective method is to adding compatilizer to the alloy systems.ABS and PET or ABS and PBT are belong to the above situation, so we chooseSMA、KT-2、KT-32compatilizers in this paper, to study their properties influence onthe two kinds of alloy. The appropriate dosage of KT-32is discussed, and we willstudy the toughening modification of the KT-14to ABS/PET alloy and ABS/PBTalloy in further.
