Drilling wastewater is a special industrial waste produced from oil and gas drilling. Usually it contains toxic and hazardous substances dissolved and dispersed oil, salts of heavy metals, radioactive substances, organic and inorganic chemical processing agents, sediment, bacteria and other typically contain. With the rapid development of China’s oil and gas industry, the number of oil and gas exploration and exploitation drilling are increasing quickly. The amount of drilling wastewater discharge is also growing, resulting seriously environmental problems.Sulfonated humic acid, also known as sulfonated lignite (SHA), is a derivative of the humic acid, sulfonated lignite by the agent (sulfate, sulfite or bisulfite), acid, alkali, formaldehyde, other inorganic salts under appropriate temperature conditions, now widely used in the drilling mud. Can significantly affect drilling wastewater BOD, COD and sulfur content. On the one hand it can decreased the metal ions and trace elements in water,; on the other hand, it can also affect the bioavailability and toxicity of metal ions. Therefore, the study of sulfonated humic efficient and economical method of wastewater treatment is of great significant for the protection of water resources and environmental health.Fly as is a new water treatment agent, which can widely found, and also inexpensive, easy to operate. This study selected sulfonated humic acid as a pollutant, explore the adsorption mechanism in the fly ash and fly ash modified research. The results showed that:the surface and the structure changes by a suitable modification. The holes are distributed on the fly clear, its specific surface area increases, so that the physical adsorption strengthened to improve the adsorption of the organic pollutants in the fly ash. Two kinds of fly ash (Shand and Boundary Dam (BD)) were used to deal with sulfonated humic. Shand ash showed better adsorption effect. The adsorption of sulfonated humic acid on fly ash were affected by many factors, such as fly ash dosage, temperature, pH and ionic strength. Sulfonated humic acid removal increasing when the dosage of fly ash was raised, and increases with increasing temperature. And the adsorption at low pH is much better. After adding NaCl, the removal of sulfonated humic acid first increase then begin to reduced. Through the adsorption study we found: sulfonated humic acid adsorption on fly ash can be better simulate by Langmuir equation adsorption isotherm; kinetic studies show:The adsorption process followed pseudo-second-order kinetics; thermodynamic studies show:adsorption on sulfonated humic acid and modified fly ash as an endothermic process.
