Recent years, there has been a rapid development among the chemicalindustry, and people’s living standard has been keeping improving, but the problemof environmental pollution is becoming more and more severe. In order to establishthe sustainable development, green chemistry has been attracting more and moreattention to people worldwide. The ionic liquid is a kind of ionic compounds that isin liquid phase at or near ambient temperature, due to its extremely low vaporpressure and physicochemical stability, which leads to its extremely low volatilityand enables its possibility of recycling utility with low damage of pollution. Recentyears ionic liquid has been explored by more and more scientists, because it is veryclose to the requirements of the development of green chemistry, and it is in liquidphase during a wide range of temperature with extremely low vapor pressure, alsobecause of its good solubility for many substances, good physicochemical stability, good electrochemical stability, high conductivity, wide electrochemical window, designable functional properties and so on.Although many kinds of ionic liquids have been synthesized, the data aboutphysicochemical properties of the ionic liquids is still very lack and this makes thetheoretical research on ionic liquids lack of supporting with experimental data. Inview of this, we have prepared a series of propionic acid ionic liquids ([Cnmim](n=4,5,6), which have been characterized by1H-NMR spectroscopy and differentialscanning calorimetry. Then we determined the data of the density and surface tensionof the dilute solution of these ionic liquids (m=0.01-0.50mol·kg-1) in thetemperature range of (288.15K-318.15)±0.05K. Get the solution of parachorexperimental value,Puts forward the predict different concentration solution ofparachor empirical eguation, Uing the empirical equation to estimate the surfacetension of the aqueous solution of the three ionic liquids. The estimate value andexperimental value within the error range. In addition,at298.15K temperature the ionic liquids are further discussed. The values of apparent molar volume and partial molar volume at infinite dilutionfor the ILs were calculated in terms of Pitzer’s theory.Using Li’s model of surface tension and the empirical equation of parachor, the values of surface tension of theseaqueous solutions for three PrAILs were estimated. The results show that Li’s modelis more accurate than the parachor semi-empirical method in the prediction of thesurface tension of the aqueous ILs.
