Most of our oil fields have entered the high water period. water cut of well fluid increasesyear by year which not only brings a series of problems for oil production, but also raisesmanpower and resources cost. In this case, study in effect of oil-water separation draws moreand more attention, the development of new oil-water separator has become the key toimprove the oil-water separation technology. Multi-cup isoflux oil-water separator is a newgravity oil-water separator. The mechanism, based on density difference theory, is to extendsedimentation time of well fluid in the cup to improve degassing efficiency.This separator has a good water separation, in order to make such a separator usedwidely, we did a lot of experimental research with theoretical analysis and laboratoryexperiments. Multi-cup isoflux separation technology has been in the practical application inoil fields, and gets achievement. It can improve separation efficiency through selective filtermaterials. Coated quartz sand, fracturing support ceramic, anthracite, coconut shell activatedcarbon, activated alumina, silica sand, manganese sand, magnets ore are on separation testsoil-water mixture that has different water content. Input water content, output water contentand output velocity are recorded. We analyze the influence of filter media in different sizes onseparation efficiency under the circumstances of different filter media and also the samemedia. We can get a conclusion that there are two factors to impact the separation efficiency.One is it goes up with the shrink of production rate and input capacity. The other one is filtersize. The smaller one has a better performance.
