With three kinds of coal-tar pitch as raw materials, binder pitches were modified by addingboron compound. Modified pitch cokes were prepared at1250℃.Binding cokes werecharacterized by oxidation loss rate, CO2reactivity, TG and XRD. The results show that theoxidation resistance of pitch cokes modified by boron compound has been evidently improved.This additive effectively changed the oxidation behavior of modified pitch binding coke.CO2reactivity of boron compound modified pitch cokes has been reduced by79%~97%.Oxidationweight loss temperature of boron compound modified pitch cokes has been evidently increased.Oxidation weight loss rate of boron compound modified pitch cokes has been evidentlydecreased. Modification treatment by boron compounds has effectively inhibited the oxidationof pitch binding coke. B2O3protective films formed by boron compound during pitchcarbonization effectively suppress the erosion of oxidizing gases for the carbon material.
