This dissertation reported syntheses and properties of novel poly(aryl ether ketone)scontaining1,4-naphthylene units and poly(aryl ether ketone sulfone)s containingdiphenyl or2,6-naphthylene moieties from five aromatic ether monomers:2,6-bis(4-phenoxybenzoyl)naphthalene (2,6-BPOBN),1,4-bis(4-phenoxybenzoyl)naphthalene(1,4-BPOBN),4,4’-diphenoxydiphenyl sulfone (DPODPS),4,4’-bis(4-phenoxybenzo-yl)diphenyl (BPOBDP),4,4’-diphenoxybenzophenone (DPOBPN) by Friedel-Craftselectrophilic polycondensation with terephthaloyl chloride (TPC) or isophthaloylchloride (IPC).1. A series of novel copolymers of poly(ether ketone naphthalene ketone etherketone ketone) and poly(ether sulfone ether ketone ketone) were prepared byelectrophilic copolycondensation of terephthaloyl chloride (TPC) with a mixtureof2,6-bis(4-phenoxybenzoyl)naphthalene (2,6-BPOBN) and4,4’-diphenoxy-diphenyl sulfone (DPODPS) in the presence of anhydrous AlCl3and NMP in1,2-dichloroethane (DCE). The PEKNKEKK/PESEKK copolymers werecharacterized by DSC, WAXD, TG, FT-IR, etc. The results showed that Tgvalues of copolymers increased and Tmvalues decreased with increase in contentof sulfone groups. The copolymer with15mol%DPODPS had high Tgof187°C, moderate Tmof355°C.2. A series of novel copolymers of poly(ether ketone diphenyl ketone ether ketoneketone) and poly(ether sulfone ether ketone ketone) were prepared byelectrophilic copolycondensation of isophthaloyl chloride (IPC) with a mixtureof4,4’-bis(4-phenoxybenzoyl)diphenyl (BPOBDP) and4,4’-diphenoxydiphenylsulfone (DPODPS) in the presence of anhydrous AlCl3and NMP in1,2-dichloroethane (DCE). The PEKDKEKK/PESEKK copolymers werecharacterized by DSC, WAXD, TG, FT-IR, etc. The results showed that Tmvalues of copolymers decreased with increase in content of sulfone groups. Thecopolymers with30-35mol%DPODPS had high Tgs of177-180°C, moderateTms of334-337°C.3.
