ABSTRACT:The precision of the measuring instrument is very important to the products quality in manufacturing industry. There are six error components that should be measured for the linear guide. Among all the six error components, the measurement of roll angle error is the most difficult part. In order to improve the measuring precision of roll angle error, the researchers have tried mang different kinds of methods, compared with the others, error analysis and compensation is an effective and cheap way to improve the measuring precision.This paper takes the dual-beam roll measurement system based on a rhombic prism as a research object, the main contains have been shown as the follows.Firstly, The rotation matrix, reflection matrix and refraction matrix were used to calculate and obtain the mathematical relationship model of the position information of the light-spot received by the four-quadrant photodetector and the roll angle error.Moreover, The roll equations with the fabrication deviation of prisms and the error crosstalk have been achieved by the mathematical model.At the last, according to the result of the roll angle error analysis, an error compensation method is put forward to reduce these systematic errors.The theoretical analysis results show that fabrication deviation of prism and pitch angle error have great effect on roll measurement.The experimental results show that the maximum error of roll angle measurement reduces evidently to3.5" from the previous347.2" after compensation, which has prove that the error compensation method in this paper is effective and practical.
