With the shortage of wood resources and the development of science and technology, kinds of substitute of wood materials were appeared. Wood plastic composite is a new kind of material with characteristics of resources saving and environment protecting. However, study on wood texture simulation of wood plastic composite surface is still at the exploratory stage. It has not recently formed a complete and theoretical system of wood texture simulation on wood plastic composite. Today wood texture in furniture, interior decoration materials, building landscape materials etc. is becoming more and more widely use. Therefore, study on wood texture design is extremely urgent.Statistical analysis method was used for the study of wood texture characteristic parameter. With the data extracted by software MATLAB R2010a, wood texture angle, wood texture width, and wood texture cycle length of Phellodendron amurense and Prunus maackii from radial and tangential directions were analyzed. Characteristics, value range and basic data for texture design of wood texture angle, wood texture width, and wood texture cycle length of Phellodendron amurense and Prunus maackii from radial and tangential directions were concluded.Analysis and measurement method and analytic hierarchy process method were used for the study of wood texture design. Ratio relations and variation tendency were applied to draw the simulated wood texture. The texture angle, texture width, and texture cycle length of designed texture were extracted. And SPSS software were used for comparing similarity level and evaluating the design of wood texture simulation.Results showed that:(1) Wood texture angle of Phellodendron amurense and Prunus maackii from radial direction was appeared at near90°; and near90°,45°and135°from tangential direction. So vertical texture was appeared from radial direction; and parabolic texture was appeared from the tangential direction. Early wood texture width of both radial direction and tangential direction was larger than late wood texture width. Early wood texture width of Phellodendron amurense from radial and tangential directions was70%, and80%to the total width respectively. Early wood texture width of Prunus maackii from radial directions were68%and85%to the total width; early wood texture width of Prunus maackii from tangential directions were33%and96%to the total width. Average wood texture cycle length of Phellodendron amurense from radial direction was22.4444and18.8182; from tangential direction was19.8235and33.7857. Average wood texture cycle length of Prunus maackii from radial direction was17.6316and32.8462; from tangential direction was16.6316and48.6667. (2) Designed wood plastic composite simulated texture angle of Phellodendron amurense and Prunus maackii from radial direction was appeared at near90°; and near80°and100°from tangential direction. So vertical texture was appeared from radial direction; and parabolic texture was appeared from the tangential direction for the designed wood plastic composite simulated texture. Early wood texture width of both radial direction and tangential direction was larger than late wood texture width for the designed wood plastic composite simulated texture. Early wood texture width of simulated Phellodendron amurense from radial direction and tangential direction were70%and80%respectively to the total width; early wood texture width of simulated Prunus maackii from radial direction and tangential direction were88%and20%respectively to the total width. Average wood texture cycle length of Phellodendron amurense from radial direction was smaller than that from tangential; average wood texture cycle length of Prunus maackii from radial direction was larger than that from tangential. Designed wood plastic composite simulated texture was more regular than wood texture. On similarity evaluation of texture cycle length, the designed wood plastic composite simulated texture was obviously correlated to the original wood texture, where it has primarily90%and70%similarity for radial and tangential direction respectively. All of these parameters showed that the designed wood plastic composite simulated texture has stronger simulation.
