As China’s economic development, the building of material progress, increasingly highlevels of urban and rural residents, decoration has become a prerequisite for housingoccupancy, and formaldehyde as the representative of interior decoration pollution problems,modern urban and rural residents has become more and more concerned about. Formaldehydeis a toxic, widely source, widespread pollutant and it can exist for a long time, affectingsensitive populations, has become one of the major sources of pollution threats to the healthfor urban and rural residents. At present, some of the treatment can not solve the problem offormaldehyde pollution thoroughly; some of them are really expensive. In this situation it isurgent to find a high removal efficiency, environmental protection, no secondary pollution,affordable way to control indoor formaldehyde pollution. In this study, at25℃conditions,with simulated20L bottles of formaldehyde in indoor volatile characteristics, analyzes thevermicompost as a medium for the removal of different concentrations of formaldehyde in theair, and study vermicompost, vermicompost after drying, vermicompost after removalorganics and vermicompost after sterilization as removing medium in the initial concentrationof formaldehyde in the case is29.5mg/m3, the study found:(1) Vermicompost is a good formaldehyde air pollution removal agent, has no smell, nosecondary pollution, waste utilization, without regeneration, etc.;(2) When using vermicompost as removing formaldehyde pollution in air agent, asformaldehyde concentration higher, the removal rate is faster;(3) At25℃conditions,20L containers, after9hours of reaction,10g vermicompost canremove the concentration of formaldehyde pollution from6.5mg/m3~29.5mg/m3to0.52~0.77mg/m3,the removal rate is92%~97%, and microbe take the primary state;(4) At25℃conditions, the concentration of formaldehyde in20L containers is29.5mg/m3, after nine hours of reaction,10g vermicompost, dried vermicompost,vermicompost after removal organics and sterilization vermicompost as removal agent, theremoval descending order is: vermicompost>sterilization vermicompost> dried vermicompost>vermicompost after removal organics;(5) At25℃conditions, the concentration of formaldehyde in20L containers is29.5mg/m3, after nine hours of reaction, the10g sterilized vermicompost can reduce theconcentration of formaldehyde pollution from29.5mg/m3to1.2~2.2mg/m3, and with theincrease in the frequency of use, the removal efficiency decreased;(6) At25℃conditions, the concentration of formaldehyde in20L containers is 29.5mg/m3, with dried vermicompost and vermicompost after removal organics as theformaldehyde in air pollution removal agent, the cumulative effect is obvious, With theincrease in frequency of use, the removal rate decreased significantly and organics affect theremoval rate obviously. After nine hours of reaction, when the removal of the medium isdried vermicompost, the first day of the removal rate was94.6%, the next92.8%,88.8%onthe third day, the fourth day was85.7%; when removing media is vermicompost after removalorganics, the first day of the removal rate was79.3%, the next59%,43.8%on the third day,fourth day of27.2%.
