Preparation Of The New Formaldehyde Sealing Materials From The Waste Polystyrene Foam

As the decoration to people's house has been being increasingly luxuriously, the indoor pollution is becoming more and more seriously. New formula of a kind of formaldehyde elimination agent as well as two kinds of formaldehyde sealant were developed through experiments.Formaldehyde elimination agent of chemical reaction type is made from carbamide, sodium bisulfite, sodium sulfite and hyposulphite. after fully mixing and dissolving the materials into water in a certain proportion, the products for formaldehyde treatment can be obtained.The formaldehyde sealant agent is mainly made from the waste polystyrene foam. When producing the solvent-type formaldehyde sealant, first, join the abluent polystyrene foam into the component solvent, which is made up of ethyl acetate, cyclohexane and normal butanol. When the polystyrene foam is fully dissolved, then join dibutyl phthalate, butyl acrylate and colophony into it as accessory ingredient in order to improve the performance involving adhesive attraction, water resisting, brushability and so on. Whereafter, keep the mixture in a thermostat water bath at the temperaturev of 35℃~45℃for 1.5hr.～3hr., the solvent-type formaldehyde sealant can be produced. a series of tests showed that the formaldehyde elimination agent could effectively remove the formaldehyde inside the lumber.The emulsion-type formaldehyde sealant is made from aqueous phase and paint phase. The process of the preparation of aqueous phase is as followed. Add a certain mass of polystyrene foam into the mixed solution which are made up of ethyl acetate and cyclohexane. Then put emulsifier which is OP-10 into it. When the polystyrene foam is fully dissolved, put in dibutyl phthalate and butyl acrylate. The process of the preparation of the paint phase is as followed. Add a certain mass of polyvinyl alcohol into distilled water, then stir at the temprature of 91℃～96℃for 60～70 min. Stop heating when it is fully dissolved. Put in the emulsifier of SDS and stir it evenly. At last,add the aqueous phase into the paint phase with appropriate proportion , mix round the mixture for half an hour, Then, the emulsion-type formaldehyde sealant can be produced.The treatment performance to formaldehyde test by painting the elimination and sealant agents on some broads separately.The formaldehyde elimination agent can be effective reduction,The results showed that the agents are possessed of the fine function of treating formaldehyde emitted from the boards.
