Along with the development of fully mechanized mining technique of colliery, the dependency on the large-scale fully mechanized mining machinery is increasing, because this machinery directly determines the safety and efficiency of the borehole operation. As an important auxiliary transport machine transporting in the borehole operation, the frame-type support carrier is easy to assemble and unassembled, quick and secure, which can largely improve the efficiency of transporting hydraulic supports needed in the working surface, shorten unproductive time and reduce coal production cost. However, this articulated carrier has no axle. Thus, without mechanical differential, the turning of the carrier becomes an important problem, which is related to the driving safety, operation efficiency and the service life of tire. Therefore, the research of its steering system is significant in both theory and engineering. The main contents of the paper are as follows:1. The work characteristics, application situation and research application of the support carrier and its hydraulic steering system was systemically stated.2. The existing problems of the support carrier were analyzed, mainly in the declining of accuracy and stability of the cam-hydraulic differential steering mechanism after long working hours, which generates non-pure rolling of the driving wheels when turning, affects driving safety and increase the abrasion of tire. Starting from the problem of differential steering, a whole new hydraulic differential system was proposed to solve the existing problem.3. With the methods of dynamics and kinematics analysis, the steering character of the support carrier was studied, the movement and loading features of relevant parts of the carrier under the state of steering were learned, and initial theoretical verification for the system improvement strategy was done, which provided theoretic reserve for the simulation and experiment research of the hydraulic steering system of the frame-type support carrier and the design. 4. The simulation model of the improved hydraulic steering system of the carrier was established in AMEsim, and simulation research of the steering situation under several working conditions was done, which preliminarily testified the rationality of full hydraulic differential system and feasibility of solving the problem of hydraulic steering system of the existing frame-type support carrier.5. Through real vehicle experiment on the support carrier, the parameters as rotate speed and pressure of the hydraulic pump and motor were recorded with the dynamic signal analyzer. Deep analysis of relevant data was done, which showed favorable improvement effects and testified the feasibility of the practical application of full hydraulic differential system.
