Preparation And Investigation Of PVA/Quaternary Chitosan Composite Hydrogel Dressings

Treatment and rehabilitation for Deep â…¡degree burn wound has increasinglybecome a tough problem to solve in the burning fields. After skin tissue transection ordefect occurs as the role of injury factors, the self-protection layer is lost, which caneasily cause bacterial infection and other complications, then lead to seriousconsequences. Thus, research about the new wound dressing for comprehensiveprotection, with the anti-infection, anti-secondary trauma and promoting woundhealing functions, has become a hot point. Although this study has made remarkableprogress, but how to accelerate the healing of deep â…¡ degree burns and scarshave notthe ideal solution yet.Polyvinyl alcohol were used as basic materials, while quaternary chitosan asantibacterial agents and glycerol as the adds. PVA/Quaternary chitosanhydrogel-based burn dressings were prepared by freezing-thawing method andsolution blending method. Tests to characterize the physical properties were carriedout, then the antibacterial test, the cells test, and animals test in vivo were proceed inorder to investigate its wound healing effect. The results showed that the preparedcomposite hydrogels have good antibacterial effects both against two commonbacteria-Escherichia coli (E.coli) and Staphylococcus aureus (S.aureus); Thecomposite hydrogel dressing prepared by solution blending also has excellentbiocompatibility. Deep â…¡ degree burns repair test in Kunming mice showed thatthecomposite hydrogel prepared by solution blending with excellent overall performance,can benefit healing and promote wound scarring and shorten healing time.In general, the composite hydrogel dressing prepared by solution blending not onlyhas good antibacterial properties, but also has excellent biocompatibility, whenapplied to animal models of wound healing, it can greatly shorten the healing time.The composite hydrogel dressing prepared by solution blending is expected to be usedas a clinical â…¡degree burn wound healing and repair artificial dressing inapplications.
