Automobile exhaust is one of the serious sources of air pollution, the most effectiveand economical method is improving the quality of gasoline to reduce the content of CO, NOXand unburned hydrocarbon that exhausted by car, gasoline additives can achieve this effect.DMC and DEC is a promising green gasoline additives due to its high oxygenated content, highoctane number, low toxic, easy decomposition and do not contaminate the environment. In thispaper, we studied the liquid-liquid equilibria of DMC or DEC with alcohol, water andhydrocarbon, and discussed whether the DMC and DEC as gasoline additive are appropriate viathe liquid-liquid equilibria data.In this work, we present liquid-liquid equilibria data of ternary system of (water+ethanol+DEC),(water+DEC+heptane or toluene) at303.15K and (water+1-propanol+DMC) at(293.15,303.15,308.15,313.15)K,(water+1-propanol+DEC) at (293.15,298.15,303.15,308.15,313.15)K and quaternary systems of (water+ethanol+DEC+toluene or heptane) at303.15K and ambient pressure,In this paper, the Extended UNIQUAC and Modifed UNIQUAC models were used tocorrelate the measured data. Compared the results of those two models, the RMS deviations ofcorrelated results of ternary and quaternary systems that used Extended UNIQUAC model were0.93%and3.58%, the RMS deviations of correlated results of ternary and quaternary systemsthat used modified UNIQUAC model were0.52%and1.13%. From these results, we can seethat the Modified UNIQUAC model is better than the Extended UNIQUAC model in terms ofcorrelating liquid-liquid equilibria data.
