Dibutyl ether (DBE), is the irritating smelling oxygenated compound owns high octanenumber and less soluble in water. Specially, DBE is low toxic, noncorrosive and stable. For thespecial characteristic, DBE is used as an important solvent and also an excellent extracting agentfor aqueous systems. What is more, DBE also is an antiknock additives for gasoline, ligand andsurface treating agent. The oxygenated compound such as alcohols, ethers, dialkyl carbonates areconsidered to the commonly antiknock additives because of their high octane numbers.Regarding the solubility behavior and octane-enhancing property, DBE owns high octanenumber similar to alcohols and dialkyl carbonates but lower price and generally less soluble inwater. So DBE is most accordant the criteria of environmental and economic. In this work, we present liquid-liquid equilibria (LLE) for three ternary systems of water+DBE+toluene or n-heptane or TMP and three quaternary systems of water+ethanol+DBE+toluene or n-heptane or TMP at298.15K and ambient pressure. The experimental LLE data for the ternary and quaternary systems were correlated by twomodels: the Extended UNIQUAC and Modifed UNIQUAC models. For the measured ternaryand quaternary systems, the RMS deviations of correlated results were0.33,0.28,2.11%and0.52,0.37,1.25%for the Modified UNIQUAC model,0.44,0.45,0.83%and0.60,0.61,1.45%Extended UNIQUAC model. In this work, the correlated results of the experimental tie-line dataprovided by the Modified UNIQUAC model are better than the results of the ExtendedUNIQUAC model. |
