Therefore, the fit of the bra is poor, which is unable to meet consumerdemand. However, middle-aged women are the backbone of society, they are playinga nexus role both in society and family. So whether now or in the future, theunderwear market for middle-aged womenwill be huge and full of opportunities.In this research, the middle-aged women between40to55years old, who livingin Xi’an region isthe object of study. Through a market survey,the imformation ofbuying behavior, dressing attitude, body satisfaction and fit of a bra are obtained fromthe target group. This will provide the basis for the structure and style design of abra.Analyze and study the measurement resultsof breast size from target population,and on this basis, the middle-aged woman’s breast shape are divided into ninecategories. The classification is according to the degree of elevation and towering.They are wizened-mild ptosis,mezzo-mild ptosis, towering-mild ptosis,wizened-moderateptosis,mezzo-moderateptosis,towering-moderateptosis,withered-severe ptosis, mezzo-severeptosis, towering-severe ptosis.According to the size of characteristical parts of eachtype of breast, regression equations about the maincharacteristic parameters onbreastarecalculatedby the depth of breast and chest circumference as independentvariables.The correspondence between the main characteristic parameters on breastanda brais looked for. Due to the phenomenon of middle-aged women’s breastsaresaggy, according to the relevant data, the mathematical relationship between the raised depth of breast and the depthbreastfrom direct measurements, in which is the raiseddepth of breast is needed for pattern design.Based on the existing design methods ofbra pattern, the type of mezzo-moderate ptosis (B2) is made as anexample from theabove9kinds of breast shape. The bra pattern is designed with85as the lower chestcircumference, and the rest of main control parameters are obtained by the frontregression equations and the other mathematical relationships. By drawing pattern,dressing the sample and modifying the pattern during several times, the suitablepattern of a brafor the middle-aged women is obtained. It also verifies thereasonableness of the front regression equations of the breast shape parameter. Theevaluation results compared with sample A which is made by the optimized patternand ordinarybra B show whether theappearance or pressure comfort, sample A isbetter than B, further demonstrate the effectiveness of this study.Sample A is basicallysuit with the shape of breasts form middle-aged women, it can meetthe comfortrequirements from middle-aged women, but also provide a reference for the study ofthe bra version to underwear enterprises.
