With the development of modern manufacturing, the use of the machiningcenter has more and more common, and become one of the important marks tomeasure the level of a country’s manufacturing.The knife library and its automatictool change device(ATC) is the key components of the machining center,itsperformance and reliability directly determines the quality and reliability of thewhole machine.First of all,a reliability testing hardware platform and software system isdesigned and made for the chain knife library and its ATC. This system combinedwith PC, acquisition card and other hardwares such as sensor,can intelligently detectand automatically record the tool change precision,tool change time, count ofchanging tool, oil pressure, oil temperature, motor temperature, fault and otherreal-time operating information.The software has a friendly visual interface,and cananalyze,draw and display the different types of test data.Secondly,aiming at all kinds of data that has been detected, use the correctmethod to eliminate the useless data, obtain the valid data,and use suitablemathematical methods to analysis data.The law of the tool precision and tool changetime are verified,so does the the performance situation of other components,whichmake up the research of the knife library aspects such as precision, time andcomponents performance test.Finally,the reliability of the tool library and ATC has many restrictive factors, inorder to describe the real structures of its reliability, a model of reliability evaluationis constructed,a reliability evaluation system of tool library and ATC is developed.Synthesizes the functionality and reliability of the knife library, and according to theideas of users and researchers, the proportion of each restricting factors aredetermined.Then according to the the data fusion and analysis, the reliability score ofthe tool library system is finally given to users or researchers intuitively. Thismethod is easy to understand,which make up for the deficiency of the reliabilityevaluation on the tool library and ATC.
