The Research On The Shape Design Of The Home Wooden Doors

Shape design is the main content of the wooden doors design. In this research, By usingthe method of literature collection, Field research, Kansei Engineering, the writer analysed thepresent situation and visual experience characteristics of the shape and its surface decoration ofthe home wooden doors. According to the result, the designers can making a design. Theprimary results were as follows:（1）The home wooden doors have three categories：solid wood doors, compound solidwooden doors and mould pressing doors, the present situation of the home wooden doors is:Highly customized, which make the customers waiting too long, lots of brands but no industryleaders, products quality are uneven.（2）Modeling technique of solid wood doors are: by carving patterns or pasting carvingson door’s surface; by moulding（decorative wood line）; the edge of the door panel millingformation; door stile milling formation. Modeling technique of complex solid wooden doors are:by panel modeling; the surface of the door modeling; moulding（decorative wood line）.Modeling technique of mould pressing doors is using molded door panels.（3）The design elements of wooden doors are modeling design and decoration design.The elements effecting the modeling design are geometric proportion and shape; The surfacedecoration of the doors are gold and silver foil, veneer,carvings, paints and varnishes, jade inlayand other decoration methods.（4）The visual experience characteristics of the shape of the wooden doors is: visualexperience score from high to low of the word “fashion” is the irregular geometric shape, therectangular shape, the linear shape; visual experience score from high to low of the word“symmetrical”,“high-end”,“classical”,“minimalist”is the rectangular shape, the irregulargeometric shape, the linear shape. Then analysed the doors in three units: sexual distinction,professional or not units, sex and professional intersected units.（5）The visual experience characteristics of thesurface decoration of the wooden doors is:the wooden doors covering with gold and silver foil get the pomposo experience, the overlaywith veneer ones are natural, the ones decorated with carvings are beautiful and decorated withpaints and varnishes are elegant and stylish.Then analysed the visual experience characteristicsof surface decoration.（6）According the research, the writer designed a wooden door. By analyzing the visualexperience of the shape and its decoration, the writer tested and verified the results of theresearch is feasibility for production design.
