Water shortage is becoming a global topic. However, the conventional approachfor condensate and cooling water of air-conditioning systems is directly drained,resulting in a waste of resources and some environmental pollution. By using themethod of combining theory and practice, the paper conducts a comprehensive studyon the condensate and cooling water’s water quality, quantity and recyclingtechnology. And in order to achieve the purpose of recycling, reducing sewageemissions and saving water resources, the paper carrys on economic benefits andutilization potential analysis about it.Firstly, an office building of Tianjin was taken as example. The paper analyzesthe water quantity and water quality of condensate and cooling water, which generatesin air-conditioning systems of buildings. The test result shows that: the turbidity,BOD, COD and hardness of cooling water are higher than the miscellaneous water’squality standards. So the water treatment process was determined: sewage waterâ†'regulation poolâ†'biological contact oxidationâ†'precipitationâ†'filter disinfectionâ†'clean water. However the quality of condensate water is good and it can be recycledto miscellaneous water and landscape water after simple disinfection treatment.Secondly, in order to reduce energy consumption and achieve water-savingbuilding, the paper explores the recycling technology of condensate and cooling waterof air-conditioning systems theoretically. As non-conventional water resources,condensate can be reused for flushing, cooling tower water, green irrigation,landscape water, groundwater replenishment and industrial cooling water; The cold ofcondensate can be recycled for cooling the high temperature cooling water of coolingtower, cooling fresh air and cooling the condenser of air-cooled air-conditioning.Cooling water can be used for flushing and landscape water after water treatment.Then the paper takes an office building A of Shijiazhuang as example anddesigns the condensate and cooling water recovery system of central air conditioningsystem. Condensate water was recycled for cooling tower’s fill water, sewage waterwas recycled for flushing. Economic analysis of the project was conducted and theresults show the project is feasible.Finally, the paper conducts studies on the influencing factors of the condensaterecycling potential. Harbin, Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Kunming, Lhasa and Urumqi seven typical urban city are selected to represent areaâ… ~â…¦. The condensatewater of the different city is calculated respectively under the same conditions such asthe same air conditioning, the same indoor parameters and so on. Based on that, area’simpaction on condensate’s use potential was explored. The paper uses different floorsof office building whose area is2000m2to simulate buildings of different sizes. Staticinvestment payback period was used as the evaluation index. Then the paper analyzesthe economic benefits of different condensate recycling engineering to study buildingscale’s affect on condensate recycling potential.
