The metal borate is a kind of materials which has special optical, mechanical and chemicalproperties. The rare earths doped orthoborate is a kind of excellent phosphors which hasstable crystal structure, outstanding physical and chemical properties. Aluminium boratefiber is an ideal reinforced composite materials which has the strong strength and strongtoughness. In this paper, we researched on the two areas which included the properties ofrare earth doped orthoborate, the synthesis of borate aluminum (Al18B4O33) nanofibers andthe reinforced of titanium-aluminium alloy. The detail contents are as follows:(1) The single-phase LaBO3: RE phosphors were synthesized by sol-gel method. Westudied the effects of the ratio of raw materials and sintering temperature on the compositionof product in detail. Moreover, we studied on the excitation and emission spectra of fourkinds of LaBO3: RE phosphors, and discussed the basic mechanism of photoluminescenceprocess. Furthermore, we compared the effects of sintering temperature and theconcentration of activator on the intensity of emission spectra. Afterwards, we explored theeffect of concentration quenching.(2) The LaBO3: Ce3+and YBO3: Ce3+phosphors were controlled synthesized with thehydrothermal method. We studied on the effects of synthesis parameters, including thetreatment of precipitation, the concentration of precipitation agent, the synthesis temperature,the reacting time and the concentration of rare earth on the composition and luminescenceproperties of LaBO3/YBO3: Ce3+phosphors phase. On the basis of above experiments, weresearched the effects of different kinds of surfactant and the value of PH on the morphologyof products. We synthesized the YBO3: Ce3+micro ball with the diameter of about3μm.(3) We synthesized aluminum borate nano-wiskers with the sol-gel method and studied theexcitation and emission spectra of different stoichiometric ratio of Ce3+as activated Al4B2O9wiskers and Al18B4O33wiskers. At the same time, we prepared titanium aluminium alloycomposited reinforced with the prepared Al18B4O33and BN@Al18B4O33nano-wiskers bypowder metallurgy method. The mechanics properties and enhancement mechanism of TiAlalloys composited were also discussed.
